I love, love, love October! During the month of October we go a little monster crazy. We have a monster watching over our classroom, we collect monster (ClassDojo) points for expected behavior and many of our lessons and crafts center around monsters. One of my favorite monster books is
Monsters Love School by Mike Austin.
Monsters Love School by Mike Austin.
There are so many ways you can use this book, but I am planning on using it to motivate my little monsters that need to practice letter and sound identification. We have finally arrived at that magical time of the year when I have started guided reading groups while everyone is working independently. Hallelujah! Just like Blue in the story, it is time for some of my cute little monsters
to practice, practice, practice their ABCs and XYZs.

$1 anchor charts
I love using anchor charts in my classroom. They usually hang on my chart stand or whiteboard while I am teaching a concept, then I move them to my focus board. I also use them in sign holders at my small group table. Anchor charts are a great way to focus and reinforce learning. These are single PDFs so that they are easy to upload to office supply stores to make posters. I like to use Vistaprint to make my posters.

Come back soon!
I will be adding more $1 anchor charts as I make them.

We are loving learning our Fun Days routine.
I got the idea for my Fun Days from Joyful Learning in KC.
Here are Melissa's Joyful Days...
Here are our Fun Days...
For the next few Thinking Map Thursdays we are working on abc circle maps. I enlarged the maps onto 11x17 paper so that we could work on the maps together.
The kids loved "thinking" about where each picture should go.
