It is back to school hunting season. Just when I tell myself that I am not going to spend much on back to school stuff...BAM!!!...the Target Dollar Spot temps me with all the stuff I can't live without. I grabbed 3 sets of wooden alphabet blocks to use during guided reading groups. These blocks are a fun and interactive way to practice letter identification and sounds. Have students pick a block, identify the letter and or beginning sound and add it to their stack. The last student to have their stack not fall over is the winner. Count the blocks in the winner's stack and have a "Highest Stacker" competition.
