cheep cheep cheep

Yeehaw for nonfiction!
We are kicking off our nonfiction writing unit by researching farm animals. Lillie brought in her chicks to share with the class. Everyone loved listening to the chicks cheep, watching them huddle together to keep warm and feeling their fluffy down. Teacher Lillie and her mom shared lots of information about chicks, hens and roosters.

polar bear experts

I have 20 copies of this book...
We have been using them to identify nonfiction text features. We also buddied up with a 2nd grade class to help us read the book and pick 3 facts we wanted to remember. We used these facts to write our first nonfiction book with a fancy polar bear cover.

Our cover was inspired by Fairy Dust Teaching, but we used sharpies to draw our polar bears and white oil pastels to color them. Here is our polar bear facts sheet...
