My students followed 4 steps to answer these giant story problems.
1. read and find important information
2. draw a picture to show the story problem
3. write an equation to answer the story problem
4. write an answer to the question

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!!! Where did you get those posters that say "telling sentence" "Excited sentence" and "asking sentence" those are great!
Have a great weekend!!
Chris
I got the punctuation posters here: http://www.madefor1stgrade.com/2011/02/writing-and-word-wall.html
DeleteI also love those sentence ending posters! They are very cute and would love to know where you got them as well.
ReplyDeleteWith the common core big emphasis on addition and subtraction in kindergarten I was struggling with providing my students with lots of varied practice. I love your 4 steps, highlighting key words, and working with a partner to solve a problem. They look so proud and happy. Thank you for sharing your great ideas.
