based on these Old Lady books...
My class performs a Reader's Theater every Thursday. We call it Theater Thursday. We read over each reader's theater together on the Smartboard and then is small groups or with partners before each performance. Sometimes we use the scripts during the performances and sometimes the actors have memorized their parts or rely on retelling the story. Most of my reader's theaters are predictable text that retell a story that we have read. After each performance the scripts goes home. Some students make their family act out the reader's theater and some do a one man show, including various voices, during their nightly reading.
There Was An Old Lady is a new Reader's Theater, but here are some pictures of our previous performances...
Some character cards are worn as necklaces.
Sometimes I put the character cards on the front of chairs.
This is a great option if they need to use the script for support.
Sometimes I put clips on the character cards. I found the clips on Amazon along with a hole punch that punches the perfect hole.
Sometimes we get out our IKEA theater.
