Notebooks

I love using notebooks! Last year my students had science and math notebooks and this year we started doing reading and writing notebooks. Here are some of the things we have been doing in our reading and writing notebooks...
building sentences that have our sight words in them

weekly phonetic spelling practice

book studies

sight word poems

resources for the sight word poems

  3. Colleen, We have been doing the phonetic spelling and something with our sight words every week and the other ideas as they come to me, but we do not do them every day.

  5. Love your notebooks! We do a lot of the activities you posted as literacy centers ... I like the idea of placing them in a notebook for the kids to reference back to and to see their growth. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Do you just glue their pages onto the lined pages?

    1. No, I found no line composition books online. I use labels for the poems and other information and the kids tape their sentences in, so that the glue doesn't glue the pages together.

  10. I love your journal labels. I love keeping math & science journals. And, always literacy journals. But these are super cute. Do you think you can share your labels?

    Thanks!

    1. I make most of them on Avery Design Pro. Maybe making them to share will be a project for next summer. If there are some that you want, send me an email.
